GREEN SEA TURTLE HATCHLING (Chelonia mydas)

In late summer of 2014 a tropical storm formed and passed by Brevard County, FL, just offshore. Heavy erosion of beaches, especially near the Sebastian Inlet caused turtle nests to wash out prematurely. In the case of this little hatchling, just another day was needed before it would have been out of the egg and on its own. The beaches were littered with eggs in various stages of development.
